You think that you are ready to become an indy cam model? If you are not sure, I've compiled a few questions that might help you determine it!
- How many paying clients do you have? Either for cam shows, maybe for custom photos or custom videos, maybe they buy your panties or clothing from previous photo shoots that you have done. Either way, you need to know how many paying clients & how much do you make total from them per month?
- Do you have a blog and / or twitter? It will help you show up in search engines, which maximizes your traffic! Use this to promote yourself, each time that you log on to your "box site" such as Chaturbate or MyFreeCams and go ahead and start getting your blog and / or Twitter noticed now. Also, post regular posts about your life from time-to-time. Maybe write about that trip to the grocery store or a mini-review about a book or movie. Just make sure that you know what you are talking about and also have the info. to back it up!
- Do you have the means to manage and promote yourself full time? If you go indy, then you will have to spend a lot of time promoting your website & service. And, to be fully honest it is very hard to compete with the advertising of a big box site. You will want to still log into your box site anywhere from 2-4 times per week to continue gaining clients & bringing traffic to your blog, twitter, and website. Most big sites, will not allow you to promote your own website; however, you can normally promote your twitter and often your blog. Make sure your twitter has a link to your cam site profile, website, and your blog. Also, with your blog, make sure it has your twitter, links to your content, and website as well! You want them to be able to find you and all your content, right?
Other Handy Tips:
- You will want to record and upload photo sets & videos for sale on your website.
- Produce promotional content *posting on twitter, uploading a video or two to an alternative / indy cammodel website, such as CamGirlCollective, uploading photos to alternative / indy sites, etc;.
- List yourself on alternative / indy cam-sites - they can provide you with *some* traffic and a payment method, yes, they still take a cut of your money but you will receive 70%-80% back instead of 50% *It also saves you from having to incorporate yourself and worry about them being able to find WHO owns the corporation. You could also have them mail a "Payee BLANK" US Postal Money Order to your PO Box.
- Be prepared to give it your all. It is definitely a FULL-TIME job!
